- write your two metaphors on separate pieces of post-it notes and bring them tomorrow. When writing metaphors, choose:
  • the topic/subject matter/word that you want to talk about (such as "happiness," "homework," etc.)
  • the characteristic you want to describe the topic with (for example, you can either describe "happiness" as something beneficial/good or that it's fleeting and not permanent)
  • think about something with that same characteristic that you can compare to
  • don't forget that a metaphor should be in the form of "A is B" saying that one thing is another using forms of the verb "be"

  • one of the five senses
  • an adjective that fits the sense (ex. if you choose smell, you would use "stinky" but not "beautiful"
  • two unlike things you want to compare (one of which should fit the adjective you are using)
